Hi, I’m back from doing stuff for the holidays. A friend showed me this movie recently and I was impressed. I can see some people not having the patience to watch it becuase there is no dialogue.
Daft Punk’s Electroma is a film by French duo Daft Punk. The plot revolves around the quest of two robots (the band members, played by Peter Hurteau and Michael Reich) to become human. The music featured in this film is not by Daft Punk. This is a first for the duo considering their previous film and home video releases, D.A.F.T. and Interstella 5555. While initially receiving mixed reviews, theatrical screenings of the film have since been well received. (Wiki)
Here is the whole movie split into parts:
The video is an old copy of Freddie King with his band performing the old Bill Withers’ number “Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone”. The song is sung in his original African influenced blues style which he was famous for. The video is a live recording of one of his shows and the song is often considered the best version of the classic. Like always he plays some wicked guitar on stage and performs the soulful number with amazing stage presence reminding the audience just why they came for the show.

This video is taken from Parliament and Funkadelic’s 1976 tour – Mothership Connection Tour. The song the band performs is “Dr. Funkenstein”. The song is a hilarious take on the old bone-connect song that we all sang as children. Of course there is more to the song than just that. Their signature Funk style with the background choruses and dialogues is present in the song throughout, which originally belongs to their album “the Clones of Dr. Funkenstein”. The song therefore features the album’s special horn arrangement by James Brown and was charted on the Billboard at #43.
